Career Story

Performance in context.

Prix du Président des Émirats Arabes Unis — Challenge Derby G1 PA · Deauville · 2005.

MUNJIZ raced six times for one win and four placings. His victory came in the Prix du Président des Émirats Arabes Unis — Challenge Derby G1 PA at Deauville in 2005; in the same season he finished second in the Prix de Carthage G2 PA at Toulouse. His own race record was therefore concise, but his historical importance grew at stud. Reporting his death at nineteen in 2020, Racing Post documented his position as a leading French Arabian sire and named Raaziq, Mushrae, Hayyan and Bandar among his high-class sons.

Distance profile: 1,900–2,000 m · documented turf programme

The archive focuses on the results that define the horse’s international profile. Complete race records and current status should always be checked with the responsible racing authority.

Research dossier

Three ways to read the profile.

Race record, family and practical relevance are read together — never as isolated headlines.

01

Read the race record

Results in context

MUNJIZ is presented with 1 wins and 1 win at Group 1/top level, with a documented distance profile of 1,900–2,000 m · documented turf programme. Those figures become meaningful only when read with where, when and against whom the results were achieved.

02

Read the pedigree

Family before fashion

The Kesberoy × Unchainedd Melody by ZT Ali Baba cross is the starting point of this profile. The recurring names Kesberoy, Saint Laurent, Unchainedd Melody, ZT Ali Baba become routes through the archive — not a mathematical promise of performance.

03

Why this profile belongs here

The lesson that remains

MUNJIZ shows why a historic sire cannot be judged from his own race record alone: six starts produced one Group 1 win, but the lasting evidence came through progeny from multiple female families.

Pedigree

Documented pedigree and family map.

The documented cross should be read alongside female-family production, soundness, distance and surface. A name in a pedigree is a clue — never a guarantee.

Only names supported by the editorial research or a linked primary source are displayed. Missing generations are never filled with assumptions.

Bloodline Story

Kesberoy × ZT Ali Baba

MUNJIZ was by Kesberoy out of Unchainedd Melody by ZT Ali Baba. Unchainedd Melody also produced champion mare Mizzna, making them maternal half-siblings and connecting MUNJIZ directly to archive profiles Hattal, Rabbah de Carrère and ZIYADD through Mizzna's production. For breeding analysis, the two forms of evidence should remain distinct: MUNJIZ transmitted class through multiple mares, while the Unchainedd Melody family continued to produce through another individual and different sires. Historical success still gives no automatic guarantee for a new mating.

The documented cross should be read alongside female-family production, soundness, distance and surface. A name in a pedigree is a clue — never a guarantee.

Breeding Insight

Pedigree. Performance. Purpose.

As a stallion or gelding reference, the profile shows which performance traits can be studied in the line. Race results do not automatically prove breeding value; offspring, female families, health and compatibility must also be assessed.

MUNJIZ shows why a historic sire cannot be judged from his own race record alone: six starts produced one Group 1 win, but the lasting evidence came through progeny from multiple female families.
